from The Costa Rican Outpost, we will cheerfully accept it for
an exchange or a refund of the FULL price of the merchandise.
If you find that a product fails to
hold up under normal use for a reasonable period of time, let
us know what happened, and we will replace it. If you simply
decide you don't want the merchandise, please return it within
six months. If your order is damaged in shipment, contact us
immediately.

Q. Is it safe to use my credit card online?
Will my name and order information remain private? A. Shopping
at our site is safe, and we guarantee it. Credit card orders at The Costa Rican
Outpost are processed on our secure server. All credit card information
is encrypted and protected using the Secure Socket Layer Protocol (SSL).
When you press the "Submit" button at the point of purchase, your credit
card information is transferred in encrypted form and can only be decrypted
by The Costa Rican Outpost. To check that your transaction is secure,
look for the unbroken key or closed padlock icon in the lower left corner
of your browser screen.

We guarantee the safety and confidentiality of every transaction we
process. If an unauthorized charge ever appears on your credit card
statement as a result of shopping at The Costa Rican Outpost, you pay
nothing.
How Can We Make Such a
Guarantee?
The Costa Rican Outpost uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to
encrypt your name, address, and credit card number, so that your personal
data cannot be accessed while traveling over the Internet. SSL works
with Netscape Navigator and Communicator (version 2.0 and newer), Microsoft

- Under the terms of the United States Fair Credit
Billing Act, your credit card provider cannot hold you liable for
more than $50 of fraudulent charges. If your credit card provider
does hold you liable for any of this $50, The Costa Rian Outpost will
cover this entire liability for you, up to the full $50. The Costa
Rican Outpost can only cover this liability if the unauthorized use
of your credit card resulted through no fault of your own, from purchases
made at The Costa Rican Outpost, while using our secure server. Unless
otherwise expressly provided in a legal notice, the aggregate liability

Q. Do you share my email address with other
companies? A. No, we do
not share or sell email addresses with other companies.
We will never sell or give your e-mail address (or any other information
about you) to anyone else without your permission. Period. We created
this policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy.
And though it's necessary to provide shipping information
to manufacturers who will be sending your order to you, we've required
each one to sign an agreement which states that the customer's name
and information must remain confidential between The Costa Rican Outpost

Q. How will I know you've received my order? A. You will
receive confirmation of your order by e-mail. Please print or make a
note of your order number for future reference. You can use that number
for tracking your order through our online system.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept? A. We
accept the following credit cards for online orders:
American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.We do not accept checks,
money orders or C.O.D.
Q.When will my credit card be charged? A. Usually
within one to two days after you place your order. Your card is
charged when the order ships, and in most cases – depending
on monogramming or alteration requests – this means one to two
days after we receive your order. If your order contains backordered
items, the backordered portion will not be charged to your account until
shipped.
Q. Where do I enter my coupon code? A. You'll be
able to enter the number as you check out, prior to entering your credit
card information. Look for the button, "Redeem Promotion, Gift
Certificate or Coupon."
Q. Can I redeem more than one promotion
per order? A. We're sorry;
we allow only one promotion per order. Also, a promotional code you
enter manually at checkout will override any promotion associated with
a banner or other online advertisement.
Q. How do I enter a new shipping address
when placing an order? A. You can
either enter the change in “My
Account” or during the ordering process we'll ask you for that
person's shipping address.
Q. Can I change a shipping address once
I've placed an order? A. We're sorry,
shipping information cannot be changed once your order has been submitted.
We process orders very quickly, and once an order begins the fulfillment
process we're unable to modify it. We apologize for any inconvenience,
and we hope that in the majority of cases our faster processing times
work to your advantage.
Q. How much do you charge for shipping? A. We ship
exclusively UPS. However because we are shipping from Costa Rica, the
shipping rates are a bit more. The shipping charge depends on the destination
and the value of your order. Please refer to the charts below. Delivery
times are estimates; some items may take longer for delivery.
Q. If packages arrive separately will I
be charged an additional amount? A. Many products
ordered from the Costa Rican Outpost are shipped directly from the company
that manufactures the product, so if you order more than one item, each
may arrive in a separate package. However, your single order will reflect
the total cost, including shipping, regardless of the number of items
you buy.

additional costs may be incurred for large and heavy items. Order processing
takes 24 hours, so shipping times should be added to the processing
period. Shipments are only delivered on business days.
**IMPORTANT! International shipments
are subject to Duties, Taxes, Broker Fees, and Customs Fees in your
country. These EXTRA fees are YOUR responsibility and must be paid upon
receipt of the shipment. The rules for these fees vary by country, and
your local government determines the duty and customs charges.
For regular delivery, please allow 7 to 10 business
days for in-stock items to arrive. Very large or heavy items may take
a bit longer. Orders placed by noon EST, Monday through Friday, can be
shipped by rush delivery for five-day arrival (our shipping is coming
from Costa Rica) within the continental U.S. for an additional $20 per
address, or within 3 to 4 business days for an additional $10 per address.
Q. Should I contact you or the carrier
with questions about my package? A. If you have
general questions about the delivery of your order or if you're wondering
about the status of a backorder, please contact us. For questions
about arranging a delivery time, please contact the carrier directly.
(You can refer to shipping confirmation in your email to determine which
carrier is handling your order.)
Q. What type of shipping service do you
use? A. Items are shipped via UPS, FedEx, or Trans-Express.
These curier services do not deliver to P.O. boxes, so we need a street
address, or if using a rural route number, a complete address and the
nearest crossroad. A phone number is required for all furniture, and
rush delivery orders.
Canadian
Orders: Canadian orders are
subject to duties, taxes are the responsibility of the customer
and must be paid upon receipt of shipment. Contact your customs
office for more information on duties, taxes and restricted products.
The estimated time of delivery for Canadian orders is 3-10 days.

Orders: Duties, taxes and customs
are the responsibility of the consumer and must be paid upon receipt
of the shipment. These rules vary by country, and your local government
determines duty and customs charges. All international orders
must be paid for by credit card.

All orders are processed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
(CST), Monday through Friday. Your order will be shipped within 48 hours,
unless otherwise noted. Please see Shipping Information for delivery and shipping policies.
Q. When is my credit card charged after
I've placed a backorder? A. Your card
is charged when the backordered item ships. If your order includes both
in-stock and backordered items, you will initially be charged only for
the in-stock portion of your order. The backordered portion is charged
to your account when the item or items ship.
Q. What method of payment do you accept
for backorders? A. If your
order includes a backordered item, payment must be by credit card. We
apologize for any inconvenience, but we cannot accept gift certificates
or The CostaRican Outpost Visa coupons for these orders.
Q. Where should I ship my return? A. Please use
the appropriate address from the following list. (Refer to your packing
slip – or see the next question – for detailed instructions on
what information to include with your return.)

Q. What information should I include with
my return? A. Please follow
these steps:
- Write a note telling us how you want to handle
the return.
Would you like us to exchange the item, issue a Gift Certificate,
issue a refund or credit the card originally charged, or other (please
explain)?
- Let us know why you are returning the item (for
example: wrong size, wrong item, didn't like color, damaged in transit,
etc.).
- Specify the name and address to which we should
send your refund or exchange.
- Please give us an email address, fax number or
telephone number (specify day or evening) in case we have questions.
- Ship your return to us (see previous question
for address).
Q. What if I have a problem with an order
I've received? A. Please contact us if you have
questions or need assistance with an order you've received. If you need
to return an item, please refer to your packing slip or the returns
instructions above.
If you are returning a gift, you will receive a gift
certificate for the value of your return, which may be used any time
toward your purchases at The Costa Rican Outpost. The gift certificate
will be mailed to the gift recipient at the same address to which the
order was shipped. (Don't worry--we won't let the gift giver know about
your return.)
Q. Can I make an exchange online? A. We're sorry;
we are not able to process exchanges online. Please refer to your packing
slip for information on returns/exchanges, or contact us for further
information.
Q. How long will it take for me to receive
my exchange? A. Exchanges
shipping to United States addresses are usually delivered within two
weeks. Due to longer delivery times, exchanges shipping outside the
United States usually take from 4-6 weeks.
Q. Can I order a new item now and return
the original item later for credit? A. Yes, but
we'll need to charge your credit card for the second item (we'll waive
the shipping charge). Once we receive your return, we'll credit your
credit card for the cost of the original item, minus shipping. Please
contact us to arrange
this.
Q. Can I return or exchange merchandise
if I don't have the original receipt? A. Yes, we'll
accept your return without the original receipt. We encourage you to
include the receipt if at all possible, in order to help us process
your return more quickly. If you do return an item without the original
receipt, please help us speed processing by telling us where and when
you purchased the product.
Q. To order, does my browser need to be
set to "accept cookies"? A. Yes. Your
browser has to be set to accept cookies before you can place an order
at The CostaRican Outpost. You can change the cookie setting in your
browser's Preferences, usually found in the Edit menu. For more information
about cookies and how we use them, see About Your Privacy.
Q. What is the Shopping Cart? A. Just like
a shopping cart in the physical world, the online Shopping Cart is where
you place all the items you'd like to buy. Click the "Add
to Shopping Cart" button for any
item you'd like to order, and we'll place it in your cart for you –
and show you a list of everything that's currently in your cart. When
you're ready to place your order, just access your Shopping Cart and
click the "Checkout"
button.
Q. What if I have a problem while placing
an order? A. Although
most online orders go very smoothly, occasionally you may experience
some bumps in the road. If you're not sure about what to do next to
complete your order, try beginning at your Shopping
Cart. In most cases, you'll get back on track and easily complete
